Tough day? Think twice before you reach for some wine to unwind with. According to a new study, if you drink a glass of wine or beer before your meal, you’re likely to eat for a longer time, take longer to feel full, and consume more calories than if you had a glass of water or juice. Then there’s the calorie factor. “Goblet-size-eight-to-12-ounce-glasses of wine or beer or mixed drinks, like martinis and Pina Coladas, can easily contain 300-500 calories”. A compromise that cost only 100 calories: Sip a three-to-four ounce glass of wine after you’ve eaten.
